have given this some thought, and think something can be made very easily without a bunch of coding and have talked with several retired players, and they have shown interest in the idea as well..

basically you have a few random arenas, will spawn much like the behemoths do, say a news post comes on, a level 75 tournament will start at 03:00 server time, check in's will be open till 02:55 server time, and the tournament will end at 04:00 server time.

at check in, you have a weapons check, and will have 150 level up points to allocate ie level 75 X2 points per level. at this point your stats are set in the tournament. all buffs work as well as any faction structure bonuses.

within the arena map, there are no safe spots, there is a repair spot, and a health center, but not free from pvp. there is no energy used for movement, but each attack will cost 50 energy, there is a 2 minute window between attacks.

ok, i know there will be much resistance to not using energy, so i will try to put it into perspective of why. we want this to be a popular arena with many entrants, this is a live pvp arena, which means there will be constant movement, if energy is used in moving, it will be limited to a select bunch of players who have 10K+ energy, and think the popularity of it will dwindle fast, if no energy is used while moving we can cater to the new players as well who may have not been able to upgrade their energy yet, meaning less participation, and less targets to hit, and all around less fun. if we have the attacks cost 50 energy per attack, it will allow a new player with minimum energy 10 attacks, and an incentive for them to increase their max energy to be able to participate more, which i think will be good over all for the game.

now when a player is killed they are re-spawned in a random location on the map, and cannot attack, nor be attacked till they move, if it could be coded that they turn a different color, that would be great as players wouldn't stop and try to attack, though on the other hand, it would also be a nice trap for people to stop moving and try to attack, leaving them vulnerable to an attack them selves.

pvp points should be traded while in the arena, but class kills for medals should not, hunting players down for medal count is one of the greater challenges in the game, and think this should remain unchanged.

if a player remains idle for over 2 minutes while in the arena, they are no longer a participant in the arena.

to solve the pvp points problem, i am thinking 1rst prize should be 100 pvp points 2nd, 50, 3rd 25, and in time maybe we can have the current top pvp players above the 1200 ish pvp mark, and in time maybe bring some of the other pvpers that have long since left back interested, as the pvp system in the game has the potential to be one of the best around.

eventually, maybe there could be an arena rankings system, a player gets a certain ranking in their profile, based on speed, kills/deaths, but that can be worked out later as well as different prizes, different arena maps, ie rabbit holes, quick sand, etc etc. but think to start would be very easy to create, and i think would see much popularity. also the idea can be expanded to faction verses faction, maybe a faction can challenge another faction, and an arena slot time could be rented for a credit cost.
